Eswatini bids for AfCFTA HQ seat in Niger

His Majesty King Mswati III is currently attending the 12th Extraordinary Summit of the African Union (AU) meeting in Niger where the headquarters of theAfrican Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) will be decided.

His Majesty arrive yesterday after a two days state visit to Senegal where he met with His Excellency President Macky Sall. He accompany by his first wife HRH Inkhosikati LaMatsebula, members of his family and members of the eSwatini delegation were welcome at Diori Hamani International Airport by Nigerien president His Excellency Mohamed Issoufou.

The summit which is held today and at this moment will mark the launch of the Agreement on the Establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and will formally launch the operational phase of the African Internal Market.

It will also be the moment where to decide on the location and structure of the AfCFTA Secretariat. eSwatini, Ethiopia, Egypt, Senegal, Kenya and Ghana are contestant in the running to the seat. 

Hosting the Free trade area would ensure that the kingdom becomes Africa’s commercial hub and be a job creator as well.
