She has been married to His Highness Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, current Emir of Kano for over 20 years. The Emir and the Princess are cousin as the late Emir was his grand- uncle, brother to the current emir's grandfather.
As the first wife and a member by birth of a royal family Her Royal Highness was given the title of Giwa Danmaje (Great wife) by the Emir on the occasion of his instalment as 57th emir.
On July 12th, she was awarded the Commonwealth Business Women Nigeria Patron by the British High Commissioner to Nigeria.
