Day of the Girl events with the Tooro Queen Mother

On October 11th the world celebrates the Day of the Girl, the day which honours and celebrates the engagement and steps taken to improve the livelihood of girls around the world.

Amongst our many heroes and heroine who are in the forefront on doing so on the African continent are our sovereigns and royal leaders. Her Royal Highness Queen Best Kemigisa, Tooro's Queen mother together with other royal leaders from around Africa were received by His Excellency President Edward Lungu President of the Republic of Zambia at the Presidential Palace in Lusaka. His Excellency is also an Africa Union Champion on Ending Child Marriage in Africa.

His Excellency and the royals discuss various steps and programs on how to better improve the education of the girl child. The royals also applauded President Lungu on his commitment to mobilize other African Heads of State to work with Cultural Leaders to end Child Marriage & achieve Gender Equality.

They then visited His Excellency former President Kenneth Kaunda, the first President of Zambia at his home in Lusaka.

Her Royal Highness and other royal leaders were in the Southern African nations attending the COTLA/CONATA ANNUAL MEETING.
