Morocco: His Majesty chairs over the opening of Parliament
It is very well to see His Majesty King Mohammed VI doing better after being diagnosed with an acute bilateral pneumonitis few days ago on October 9th as he attended some meetings and events in the Moroccan capital Rabat.
On October 9th, His Majesty sworn in new Members of Government and chaired a council of minister. Days before His Majesty met with Head of Government Saad Eddine El Othmani for briefing where amongst their discussions was the reshuffling of the government.
According to reports, His Majesty asked El Othmani to inject new and fresh people into the government. In the last few speeches where he address the nation, he said it was time to revitalize and renew Morocco’s political elite and renew its public services. The King was clear that high-level national elites should be “chosen on merit and competence.”
Still on October 9th, he chaired a council of ministers to discuss the 2020 Finance Bill. Morocco World News reports through a statement from the Palace the new finance bill was to be written in accordance with The King's economic instructions in his royal speeches.
On October 11th, He as Commander of the Faithful presided over and performed the Friday prayer at the Hassan mosque in Rabat. His Majesty was accompanied by HRH Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid.
After the prayer still accompanied by his son and brother, he chaired over the opening of the first session of the fourth legislative year of the 10th parliament.
Reading his speeches, His Majesty urged political parties and elites to show a willingness to work together to face the challenges slowing Morocco’s growth and to work for the citizens who elected them.
He also spoke about the challenges that are hindering growth and progress in the country. He then called on the private sector to collaborate with public institutions to implement reforms

His Majesty has been ranked amongst the 50 Top most influential Muslim Personalities. This was in a ranking made by The Jordanian’s Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center for the 2019 publication.
His Majesty was ranked at no 7 on the overall list, No 6 on the honourable rulers and politicians. The publication describe His Majesty as having influenced the network of Muslims following the Maliki school of Islamic jurisprudence, and is a leading monarch in Africa
