His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid was born on June 19th 1970 as Prince Moulay Rachid ben al-Hassan as the youngest male child of the His Majesty late King Hassan II and his second wife, Lalla Latifa Hammou.
His Royal Highness is the younger brother of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, TRH Princess Lalla Meryem, Princess Lalla Asma and Princess Lalla Hasna. He is second in line to the Moroccan Throne after his nephew His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Hassan.
He holds a BA of Law LLB in economic and social law from the Mohammed V University. He also has a licence to practice law in the country. He later continued his studies and presented his thesis on the "Bosnia crisis" with his graduate studies and received a Master of Law (LL.M.) in Political Science.
He holds a post graduate degree in International Relations where he presented his thesis on the Organisation of the Islamic Conference at the Université Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV. He is known for his diplomacy representing or deputizing for His Majesty in events and conferences around the world.
On March 15 2014, His Royal Highness married Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Oum Kalthum. Together they have a little son, His Highness Prince Moulay Ahmed.
