A view in African Royal Families

Her Royal Highness Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda, Queen consort of Buganda Kingdom on January 2020 paid a visit to the organisation which carries her name Nnabagereka to meet with the Ekisaakate 2020 recipients at Hana International School.

During her visit, The queen saw the various activities offered, how much participants have learned so far. The participants also trained and coached the queen in the basaakaate scratch (a coding language), relaxing activities including Yoga.

She taught them gift wrapping especially with different series of decoration from car decor, gifts and home decor, shared tips with about how to play wood ball. Her Royal Highness also took part in a tree planting ceremony

Her Royal Highness Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda of Buganda is currently in Accra, Ghana where she is attending the Global Landscape Forum on October 30th on behalf of His Majesty Kabaka Mutebi II.

With its theme "Restoring Africa's Landscape, Uniting actions from above and below", Her Royal Highness addressed the forum in a speech where she commended the United Nation's work on seeking to work closely with traditional and cultural institutions on various projects which includes environmental ones.

She spoke on the roles they(the traditional leaders) have in restoring the ecosystems and preserving the environment.

She attended the forum with fellow Ghanian monarchs at the forum and was joined by HM Queen Mother Nana Serwa Bonsu of the Ashanti Kingdom in a discussion where she addressed the Network of African Woman Environmentalists.

His Majesty Kabaka Mutebi II on September 1st held a closed door meeting with the Bataka leadership committee at Mengo palace in Nkoni, Masaka.

According to Kayiira Gajuule, the speaker of the Bataka council, Kabaka emphasized them to take care of the cultural places and see those which are in poor condition rennovated. Among the places include; Jinja Mawuuno, Seguku, Olubiri lwa Mujaguzo among others.

His Royal Highness Prince Cryspin Jjunju Kiwewa kicked off the blood drive campaign in Bulange gardens on September 10th. He was accompanied by the 1st Deputy Katikkiro and Minister in charge of Technology, Prof Twaha Kaawaase.

Prince Jjunju stressed the need of every Ugandan to donate blood in order to save the lives of fellow citizens who are sick.

His Royal Highness is the first son of His Majesty Kabaka Mutebi and his other consorts.

The two-day drive was targeting 2000 units to enable recover the deficit of over three hundred thousand units that is needed to supply to the needy

She also invited Jean Sseninde the founder of Sseninde Foundation and her delegation to discuss with her issues concerning girl engagement in sports without breaking the cultural norms and beliefs.

Her Royal Highness hailed Sseninde for her spirit of patriotism and love for sports and for representing her nation well.

Mrs Sarai Bareman applauded Nnabagereka for the effort towards development of talent and sports via Ekisaakaate kya Nnabagereka project.

Safia Abdeldayem, said that there is still a big gap to cover in the development of women football in Africa and the challenges ranging from inadequate funds and cultural beliefs need to be addressed. She added that through the likes of Sseninde foundation, women football will prosper.

Jean Sseninde who applies her trade in England, called on other stakeholders to show their commitment to uplift sports and promote women talents.

2020 edition Ekisaakaate kya Nnabagereka will hosted in Hana Mixed School in Nsangi, taking over from St. Joseph of Nazareth, Kavule Katende, Mawokota county. This year's theme will "Obuntubulamu is the pillar of prosperity". Obuntubulamu means Civility or Humanness

While launching the Ekisaakaate on August 07th, State minister for education, John Chryzestom Muyingo, appealed to Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda to organize ekisaakaate for members of parliament saying that they are worse off.

Her Royal Highness Nnabagereka Sylvia stressed that there is need to emulate what the Asians do by moving with the era of technology but not forgetting their cultural norms and traditions.

She added that, with the fading out of disciplines, hygiene, hardwork, amongst people, Nnabagereka Development foundation found it wanting to put in place Ekisaakaate purposely to mentor, and insert good morals in the young generation in order to prepare good citizens of Uganda.


Ekisaakaate is all about the celebration of cultures while improving through new technologies. Her Royal Highness launched this 13 years ago, so that younger generation don't forget about their cultures.

His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II who was accompanied by Her Majesty Nnabagereka Sylivia Nagginda opened the 27th great Buganda Lukiiko(parliament) on August 19th in Bulange, Mengo.

During this session, His Majesty appointed new members of government as well as his envoy around the world, who officially thanked the Kabaka for their appointment and vowed to work tireless to protect the Kingship.

Giving his speech, The Kabaka emphasized on the importance of cooperatives as the one way which people can use to get rid of poverty. He also thanked the Buganda Heritage Association group based in United Kingdom, for putting a sign post on Muteesa house in London that represents that Ssekabaka Edward Frederick Muteesa II lived in that house from April 1968 to November 1969.

Kabaka also appreciated the clan leaders for hosting him at their clan cradle lands and urged the grandsons and daughters to help the Clan leaders in carrying out the activities of the clan more so helping them to prepare Kabaka's visit. Beene reminded other clans whom he haven't yet visited, to get prepared as soon as possible.

Yesterday the Kingdom of Buganda was in celebration as the mark the 26th coronation anniversary of their monarch held at Nkumba University, Katabi sub county, Busiro County..

His Majesty Kabaka Mutebi II who was accompanied by Her Royal Highness Nnabagereka Sylivia Nagginda, members of the royal family as well as the kingdom's government officials, called on the Ugandan government to re-introduce cooperative groups which will provide job opportunities to the citizens thereby promoted economy. He also encouaraged his people to grow coffee in order to generate enough income

His Eminence Muhamad Saad Abubaker, the Sultan of Sokoto who is currently on a royal visit to the Buganda Kingdom to discuss about how the Buganda Kingdom handle the situation of the girl child and is the guest of honour of the Kabaka urged political leaders to work hand in hand with cultural leaders to promote the welfare of the people. He explained how cultural leaders play a greater role in transforming the lives of their subjects and bringing them together for as one yet they have less funds to transmit the necessary services required for the betterment of people's lives.

The Buganda and Sokoto Kingdoms came together on July 29th, to discuss about the African girl child.

A delegation from the Kingdom of Sokoto, in the Federal Republic of Nigeria led by His Highness Samaila Muhammad Mera, The Emir of Argungu arrived in the Kingdom of Buganda where they were received by a delegation led by Her Royal Highness Nnabagereka Sylivia Nagginda and the kingdom's Katikkiro(Prime Minister) Charles Peter Mayiga.

The discussion which was convened about the future of the girl child in Africa. It was to ensure that girls together with women have a lighter future.

This later calls for improvement in the social sevices, education standards, protection against torture, girl trafficking, murder, and engagement in issues of the country.

The Buganda Queen consort expressed the importance of carrying out a one-on-one discussion with a girl child, as this helps her to gain confidence in whatever she wants to achieve.

On July 10th, His Majesty Kabaka Mutebi II was in Bugerere from July 10-11th were he took part in vaccination and health campaign.

During the Kingdom's Health Day celebrated in the county, His Majesty during his tour of stalls urged all his people to be responsible by living a good life exhibited through washing hands after using a toilet, maintaining personal hygiene and the surrounding environment, eat a balanced diet, making exercise, and receiving medical attention when they fall sick. “By doing this, that’s when we can win battles related to poverty and unemployment among youths”, he said.

He also emphasized his people to stay away from activities that may lead them to attract HIV/AIDS, thus encouraging them to test and seek treatment if found postitive.

He urged the youths to work hard by engaging in farming especially coffee farming as an individual or as a group.

His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II on July 1st officiated the closing ceremony of the 11th edition of Buganda Expo held at Mengo palace, Lubiri.

He first toured several stalls including the wildlife conservation centers that's Kavumba recreation center and Uganda wildlife education center stalls.

The Kabaka was accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Richard Ssemakookiro, and a few Kingdom's government officials which included the Prime Minister visited a combination of stalls as they received guiding information from the exhibitors on how they manufacture their products.

In his closing, His Majesty was delighted with the youth's involvements throughout the expositions and how they engaged in all the innovations that were shown by exhibitors. He also encouraged them to continue working hard to better their future.

His majesty stressed the need for the citizens to support the locally made products as this will lead to the development of both the people and country at large.

On June 11th, His Majesty Kabaka (King in Luganda) Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II visited the St. Joseph's Kitovu hospital to see how the remunerations from his birthday run aimed at fighting against Fistula, have been helping in changing the life of the fistula patients.

His Majesty thanked the hospital's management and residing staff for their efforts in observing that the fistula patients live a better life in a message delivered by the 1st deputy Katikkiro(prime minister), Professor Twaha Kigongo Kaawaase.
