African Royalties : HRH Inkhosikati LaMbikiza

Our royals in the Southern African region of the continent are coming either together of individually to meet with the public on various topics, cultural events and celebrations.

On Friday August 16th, the Hhoyi traditional council will be hosting the Hhoyi Expo 2019 from 10 am to 4 pm. The expo is a result of a partnership between The Royal BakaNgomane foundation, its patron HRH Inkhosikati LaMdluli and Inkomati Usuthu Catchment Management Agency. This came as a result of identifying a problem where learners in the kingdom are unable to further their studies due to poverty, unemployment, lack of funding and the unavailability of resources such as a library with limited access to the internet. Due to geographic isolation access to Institutions of higher learning discourages most of our learners from attempting enrollment. Her Royal Highness Princess Shenge Buthelezi of the Royal Buthelezi clan also joined in partnership with the expo. Princess Shenge will be able to offer qualifying students participating at the Hhoyi Career Expo 2019 to apply for financial assistance, a bursary in the field of Agriculture.

On Saturday August 17th, former South African First lady Tobeka Madiba Zuma will be hosting a luncheon for women and girl children at the Durban Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre Complex. Invited guest of honor will be HRH Inkhosikati LaMbikiza of the Kingdom of Eswatini. With Theme Dress UP and Show UP, ticket price South African R495 and time 11h00 South African time.

On Saturday August 17th, HRH Kgosikagi Boitumelo Maila Mogane of Kgarudi Tribe will be hosting a 2nd annual depression awareness campaign at the Mpumalanga College of Nursing. Queen Maila is the founding patron of Depression South Africa. This year's theme is MALES YOU MATTER.

On Saturday Sept 14th, the Mpondo Royal Families will be coming together to celebrate the Mpondo culture and heritage festival. The event will be hosted in Lwandlolubomvu Great Place at Matshona village

Known as Queen Sibonelo Mbikiza or the "Queen of First" in eSwatini, HRH Inkhosikati LaMbikiza is celebrating her birthday today June 16th. Born in 1969 as the oldest of 3 children, to Rev. Percy Mngomezulu and Mrs Ntombi Mngomezulu.

On January 14th 1986, she joined the royal family as the first wife of the then Crown Prince Makhosetive now His Majesty Mswati III, prior to his coronation on April 1986. Together they have two of the king's eldest children of both sexes HRH Princess Sikhaniyiso, Inkosatana(Chief Maiden) and senior princess, HRH Prince Lindani (senior prince).

Queen of First:

Inkhosikati LaMbikiza is involved in the formation of a number of initiatives, programmes and projects in the fields of charity work, music, sport and art.

The title Queen of First came from the many first accomplishments Her Royal Highness has achieved since marrying the king at a young age. Here are her achievements:

Law:

Though she married young it didn't deter her from achieving her dreams. She became the first Swazi Consort to earning a BA in law and LLB from UNISA(University of South Africa) after her marriage joining other world's Queen Consorts to have earned a bachelor's degree. She also holds a master's degree in Law (LLM) from UNISA and a graphic design degree from Limkokwing University. She also passed the bar exams in both Eswatini and South Africa, although she does not practise it in the kingdom, she is one of His Majesty's legal analysts and counsel in legal matters.

She is a member of the constitutional review panel. Her Royal Highness partakes in the discussion and deliberations of the Constitution review.

She addresses the Lawyers for Human Rights forum on the Breaking of an impasse – Constitutional Drafting in Swaziland.

She met the Human Rights Advocate Lord Lester of Herne Hill QC in London.

She met with Amnesty International, Commonwealth Secretariat and the International Bar Association who are contributing towards the success of the Constitutional Drafting process in Swaziland. She also met with Judge Jesse Jowell the author of The Changing Constitution.

She has addressed the Women and the Law in Swaziland on the Role of women in constitutional Drafting – their rights and place.

She also addressed the Swaziland Society in London on Governance. The Constitutional Development and Drafting in Swaziland.

Social work:

Her Royal Highness is involve in many social works in the kingdom and outside the country.

1. She is first pioneering Queen who encourage social and charity work though the launch of a charity organization. At least nine (9) have since mushroomed with other members of the royal family partaking and patroning these.

2. She is the founding patron and ex-officio member of Lusito Charity Organization whose mandate is to assist underprivileged children who have no means of financing their medical cases.

3. She is also the founding Patron and ex-officio member of the Tidzelise Charity Organization whose mandate is to assist Families Bridge the Social gap in terminally ill family members through material assistance and counselling. The organization are mainly takes care of HIV/AIDS cases.

4. Founding patron of Special Olympics in Swaziland whose mandate is to encourage handicapped Swazis to partake competitively in sporting activities. Through this movement lives of intellectually disabled people are transformed via the joy of sport, everyday, everywhere. She participated in the meeting on Special Olympics of Swaziland in Alaska.

5. Patron of SINAN, an NGO that serves to advocate and promote breastfeeding of babies. SINAN's major function is to assist the Ministry of Health and other organizations in the promotion, protection and support of all breast feeding initiatives.

6. Having passed the music genes to her daughter, she is a lead chorister to the first Christian Mass Choir in Swaziland. She is also their director, producer and lead chorister in the Choir who have recorded a live CD (first in the country). This project required the co-ordination of choristers from different denominations and choirs for its success. The project was a major success with a call, from the public, for a second recording. This project has since inspired other Swazis to explore their vocal skills and follow suite. She has since been Executive Producer for the Assemblies of God Youth Ablaze choir when they recorded their album "Ngena Nawe". She has also helped Nokuphila Magagula and J.B. Msekwa in their recordings, which will be released by end of this year. She continues to help other Christians in their spread of the word of God through music regardless of the denomination. The project was a major success internationally with calling of the choir to perform in Nelson Mandela AIDS Benefit Show, RICA and the USA.

7. Through her production company M3 Productions, she continues to empower local artists through seminars, recruitment and marketing, recording and release albums.

8. She funded and help in the renovation of a room in Hope House. Hope House is a place for terminally ill people where they can stay with their families.

9. She is the founding patron and sponsor the Queen's Cup. The Cup is a soccer tournament played yearly since 2011. This was in a bid to boost the morale of the soccer fraternity that felt neglected and encourage public support of the sport.

She has also pledged and continued to support the National Soccer Squad through personal material and financial support in a bid to encourage social responsibility and national harmony through the squad. The sponsorship has since risen for the squad with more and more Swazis pledging material and financial support for the team. Through this the nation is united during squad games in and outside the country.

10. She sponsored the Queen's Award sole aim was to promote competitiveness in soccer and increase public awareness and participation in the soccer fraternity.

11. She donates prizes and help arrange games, at times anticipating in such, in a bid to advocate for the recognition of sport as a form of mental, social and physical development.

12. She proposed and attained a donation of books for the High Court of Swaziland.

13. She is Patron of Young Heroes at NERCHA (National Emergency Response Council for HIV AIDS), a recently launched wing of the council to encourage behavioural changes in the youth as a means of lowering the HIV prevalence and ensuring a continuous and productive population.

14. She is one of the Founding member of African 1st Ladies Campaign against Cancer member of African 1st Ladies Maternal Heath Founder of Campaign of Accelerated Reduction Maternal Mortality Swaziland.
