A view in African Royal Families

It is almost a week since His Majesty Sultan Qaboos of the Sultanate of Oman passed away in Muscat and the Sultanate organised 3 days of official mourning.

During this period, sovereigns, head of states and many foreign government officials arrived in Muscat to extend their condolences to the new sultan His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.

His Majesty King Rukidi IV and HRH Queen Mother Best Olimi who were already in Oman on official visit extended their personal and Uganda's condolence on behalf of His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni and the entire nation.

On December 1st, The world marked World Aids Day and on to mark this day His Majesty took part in a test to determine his HIV status. In doing so he also encouraged his fellow Batooro youth to know their HIV status and practice a healthy lifestyle and choices

His Majesty Omukama Rukidi VI is currently in Ghana where he is attending the High Level Dialogue organised by the United Nations Development Program for Africa and the Ghanaian president, HE President Nana Akuffo Addo.

His Majesty who answered present to the UNDP Africa's invitation to attend and address the dialogue with theme "Africa's money for African development - a future beyond aid", spoke on Novemeber 6th about the youth and monarchs' perspective on how to develop the continent.

In his address, the 27 year old Omukama applauded and paid tribute to the continuous exploits and potential which the continent keeps exporting to world notably that of Kenyan born marathoner Eliud Kipchoge who recently broke the world marathon record under 2 hrs and who keeps inspiring us whilst reminding us that Africa has the capacity and resources to achieve its full potential.

He called on various African governments to bring the youth, traditional and cultural leaders to the development discussion tables as everyone's voice needs to be seen and heard in other to move forward.

On October 27th, His Majesty Omukama Rukidi VI launched the 3 Sustainable Development Goals run in Kampala.

The 3SDG run which was supported by the Uganda government, United Nations offices in Uganda, Kampala City Council and Youth Go Green Campaign all pertain to the environment and climate which His Majesty has been a huge supporter and has been encouraging all Ugandans to care about their environment.

His Majesty read the launching speech which he encouraged the youth to be more aware and proactive to the various calls to improve the environment.

The theme of the Dialogue was "Teenage pregnancy and the cost of SRH Information and services for young people". During the dialogue the Ugandan edition of Let's Talk EUP campaign on teenage pregnancy and how to reduce it.

His Majesty who is also the United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for the Youth gave the opening speech where he congratulated everyone and urged them to reduce teenage pregnancy by involving the youth and talking to them about using protections during sexual intercourse.

On September 12th, His Majesty Omukama/Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Rukidi VI celebrated his 24th empango anniversary at Karuzika Palace, Fort Portale, Karabole district capital city of Tooro Kingdom.

The festivities began on Wednesday September 11th at the official residence of the 27 year old monarch with cultural rituals performed which included blessing the royal drums, spears, crowns and regalia.

Then His Majesty sounded the royal drums to the amakondere dance tune to announce to his subjects the start of the empango celebrations

On the coronation anniversary day, His Majesty blessed the day with a church service accompanied by his mother HRH Queen Mother Best Kemigisa, aunt HRH Princess Elisabeth and extended members of the royal family.

During the celebrations, representatives from other kingdoms, the kingdom's government as well as from central government attended. His Excellency President Museveni, president of the republic who was represented by the 2nd deputy prime minister, Kirunda Kivenjia, hailed the young monarch as a keeper of cultural institutions in preserving languages and beautiful cultural norms in African youths.

Through his 2nd deputy Prime Minister, President Museveni hailed the kingdom for contributing to the nation's economic development.

His Majesty ascended the throne at the age of 3 following the fatal accident of his father His Majesty Rukirabasaija Patrick David Matthew Kaboyo Ramukhoya Olimi III. Due to his young age, his mother, aunt and uncle acted as regnants until his 18th birthday. He remains one of the youngest monarch in the world

His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Rukidi IV visited the region of Kigezi over the weekend on an invitation by the international community of Banyakigezi to strengthen cultural ties between Tooro Kingdom and Kigezi.

On Thursday August 22nd, the 27th monarch was warmly welcomed by the residents in chants and traditional dances in Rwahi, Ntungamo district. Following the welcome, Omukama proceeded to visit the home of the legendary the late Paul Ngorogoza, Munyakigezi elder, who was a former administrator in colonial Kigezi.

Ngorogoza is remembered and celebrated by both the Banyakigezi and Batoro people for establishing good relations with fallen Tooro's Omukama Sir George Rukiidi III(the King's grandfather), who in 1954 granted the people of Kigezi land in his monarchy to settle on.

Many people migrated from Kigezi and settled in Tooro due to population pressure in their area.

His Majesty acknowledge the historic link and the wise decision made by his late grandfather and the intermarriages and now strong ties which have been created from it.

On August 23rd, His Majesty being a UNESCO ambassador for combating AIDS gave a key message at the Youth Dialogue on ending HIV, organized by the international community of Banyakigezi.

He addressed them on challenges and opportunities of being young and urged them to steer clear of HIV.

During the dialogue which was attended by the country's head of government Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who applauded the young monarch on his engagement in promoting peace, unity and national development as well as fight to reduce HIV-AIDS epidemic.

The Prime Minister also applauded the kingdom for setting good example and being the first traditional institution in promoting integration and unity.

Because I am quite late on many posts, I will be compiling the last few days in the schedule of His Majesty Rukirabasaija Rukidi VI of Tooro Kingdom.

On August 11th, His Majesty received the Kingdom's Amagatwa(government) both old and newly appointed members at the royal palace in Fort Portal. His Majesty was accompanied by his mother Her Royal Highness Queen Mother Best Kemigisa.

In a tweet, He asked the new cabinet to deliver on our key focus areas of health, education, environment and tourism. He also remarked how he reduce the government from 33 to 17 members.

On August 12th, He attended a farewell ceremony of the outgoing ArchBishop, His Eminence Stanley Ntagali will be retiring next year in March. His Majesty thanked His Eminence for his service and spiritual guidance to Ugandans during his term and wished him a happy retirement.

On August 14th, His Majesty traveled to Burahya County in Kabarole district, to meet with his subjects at Bukuku town council headquarters. During his visit, he asked the resident to stop engaging in massive tree cutting and that he had launched a campaign to plant 10 million trees in all parts of the kingdom within five years.

On August 16th, He was in Kibale, where he met with the citizens leaving there. During his visit, he applauded the residents of Rwamwanja, Nkoma for the Unity and cooperation between them with the refugees settled in the area. He also encouraged them to protect themselves against HIV, and plant trees to conserve the environment.

On August 18th, he visited Kitagwenda County, where he met with his subjects there. During his visit he applauded the residents and encouraged them for their Agricultural initiatives in Mahyooro. I urged them to plant trees and promote the agro-Tourism potential the area has.

On August 22nd, He visited The Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial development(Pibid) center in Bushenyi district where he expressed interest in establishing high-level collaborations with the initiative not only in the area of supplying produce to the factory but in value addition.

He and his team wanted to have a firsthand view of the facility with the aim of having a similar set-up in Tooro.

PIBID's VISION is to produce value-added Matooke products for both the local and international markets

It has been quite a busy week for His Majesty Omukama Rukidi VI of Tooro Kingdom.

On July 31st, His Majesty launched the Rotary Cancer Run accompanied by the members of Rotary Club in Kabarole at club's office in Fort Portal. The run will take place in August 25th in kingdom as well as across the country.

Following that he went to Kyebambe Girls' Secondary School and Westville High schools where he met with the staff, students and parents.

During his visit, the 27 year old monarch urged parents to keep up the good work of educating their children and to the students to continue studying hard. He also urged both students and parents to save the environment by planting at least one tree and properly dispose of rubbish, especially plastics.

On August 1st, he visited Bunyangabu where he urged all leaders to work together for continued development. Encouraged parents to educate children for their personal development, and for all people to avoid HIV and love one another.

Today August 4th, His Majesty was in Mwenge. During his visit he was shown a tree which was planted in 1965 by his grandfather Omukam Sir George Rukidi III. He urge the people to take good care of the environment and to also plant more trees for future generations

In line with this year's Empango(Omukama's coronation day) theme, His Majesty Omukama Rukidi IV of Tooro Kingdom in Uganda, visited Kyaka county on July 24th where he met with everyone and spoke with youths and their families.

During his visit he encouraged the people to partake in conservation, encouraged the youth to avoid peer pressure, avoid AIDs and other bad practices and urged parents to take their children to school and learners to work hard.

This year's 24th Empango theme is SAVING AND PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT IS SAVING LIVES. This will be celebrated on September 12th at Karuzika Royal Palace in Fort Portal.

On July 26th, His Majesty who was welcomed with songs, dances and praises as he visited St. Peter and Paul's and Buhinga Primary Schools in Fort Portal, encourage and urge the students to work and study hard to secure a bright future. He also tasked them to conserve the environment and to protect themselves against HIV

His Majesty Omukama/Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Rukidi VI of the Kingdom of Tooro in Uganda, is currently in Egypt to bring his support to the Ugandan Cranes as they participate in the 2019 African Cup of Nations. 

According to news report, the 27 year old monarch(the world's youngest monarch) who was welcome at the Cairo international airport on June 26th by the Cranes' official and the Uganda football federation's official, was welcome at the Cairo International Stadium by rounds of applause by Uganda's supporters.

Media reports that on he visited the team during one of their training session to give word of encouragements as well as his support. He was accompanied by the kingdom's officials, governments and other officials.
