A happy 24th coronation anniversary to His Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Kolapo Sulu Gambari CFR, the 11th Emir of Ilorin, Chairman of Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers.

His Highness took his stool and staff of office on this day in 1995 and comes from a long line of Emir with his father Alhaji Zulkarnaini Muhammadu Gambari being the 9th Emir.

The Palace of the Obi of Onitsha, Onitsha Kingdom, Anambra State played host to the 2019 edition of Ofala Festival which began on October 4th and ended on October 14th.

His Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, Obi of Onitsha hosted thousands of the Kingdom's residents and visitors to not only a display the rich cultural heritage, but 10 days of pure glamourous display of rich entertainment for all.

A few days leading to the festival, the Igwe goes into seclusion where it said and assumed to have successfully negotiated the fortunes of the kingdom with the gods and forefathers. This is steeped into deep spirituality, the event is the highpoint of the Onitsha ceremonial cycle. The night before the event, he emergences and then take part in traditional rites to bless the events.

The ceremony held various events which included the first edition of the  21 km Onitsha City Marathon, organised by the Onitsha Business School, on October 5th. This was followed by the Oreze Arts VII, which was promoted and supported by Igwe Achebe’s Chimedie Museum Trust Foundation and the National Gallery of Art.

There was also the Ofala Youth Festival 7th edition hosted by Onitsha Ado Youth council which was held on Thursday, October 10th which brought about 2000 persons. The festival showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Kingdom.

There was also display of royal dances, tributes, parades and music running which took place over two days. Also known as The Ofala proper, which took place from October 11th and 12th.

The festival ended with a Royal Banquet, organised by one of Nigeria's mobile company and the festival's sponsor Globacom in honour of the Obi of Onitsha held at the Dolly Hills Hotel, Onitsha, on Monday October 14th.

On Tuesday His Imperial Majesty Oba Lamidi Adeyemi of the Oyo Kingdom welcome the members of the World Twin Festival Committee Members at the royal palace.

His Imperial Majesty who is also a father of multiple twins(4 sets) from his wives and gets the title of Iku Baba Yeye(father of twins) was accompanied by his youngest wife Her Royal Highness Ayaba(Olori or Queen) Anu Adeyemi with who he had twins(girl and boy) and gets the title of Iya awon Ibeji (mother of twins).

The meeting was arranged by The Alaafin's daughter HRH Princess Folashade Adeyemi and the committee got the blessings of their royal father and patron

It has been a busy week for His Highness The Emir of Kano as he was at the United Nations in his capacity as Sustainable Development Goals Advocate appointed by The Secretary General, Antonio Gutterres.

Firstly he attended the extraordinary SDG meeting hosted by the UN's Secretary General at the SDG's headquarters in New York on September 22nd. During this meeting the SDG Action Zone goals 2030 where tabled and discussed.

His Highness was joined by fellow royals and Advocates, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of the Belgians and Her Highness Sheikha Mozah of Qatar. He also attended the reception at UN Headquarter in New York.

On Monday September 23rd, He first attended a round table discussion with corporate council on Africa, with president of Islamic Development Bank HE Dr Bandar Hajjar, at the board meeting of ISDB whom he met before the meeting. Also attending this meeting were Their Excellencies President of Togo Faure Gnassingbe, President of Ghana Nana Akufo Addo, President of AFFB Mr Akinwumi AdesinaGov Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state, and Business man Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

On September 24th 2019, he co-chaired the 17th Sustainable Development Goals, Achieving the SDGs in Nigeria: Pathways and Policy Options held by The Nigerian President H.E President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian delegation at the UN Headquarters.

He also met with Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands who was attending in her role as the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA) was also celebrating her 10th anniversary in this role. Previously both royals have met on various occasion when His Highness was governor of the Central Bank of Nigerian and when Her Majesty visited Nigeria in 2015.

He attended the Breakfast Business interactive sessions held by US- NIGERIA COUNCIL for Food Security, Trade, and Investment in New York on September, 26th 2019.

A happy belated birthday to His Royal Highness Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, The Emir of Bichi.

His Royal Highness is the son to the late Emir of Kano Emirate, His Highness Alhaji Ado Bayero, brother to Her Royal Highness Giwan DanMaje Sadiya Sanusi, queen consort of Kano Emirate.

His Royal Highness was recently made Emir of the newly created emirate Bichi, one of four new emirates carved out of Kano Emirate

On August 10th, population of Ojoto Kingdom stormed the arena of Ufiejiọkụ festival which was presided by their traditional ruler of Ojoto kingdom, HRH Igwe(Igbo word for king) Gerald Obunadike Mbamalụ also known as Eze Ojoto III, Ezeoranyelu 1.

It was prestigiously outstanding masterful feast and fun as Masquerades stormed the arena of Ufiejiọkụ festival.

Ojoto as a peace loving and hospitable Community has been consistent in sustaining the age long Ufiejiọkụ festival tradition.

The event also had the presence of notable Traditional Rulers and other prominent Nigerians.

His Royal Highness, Danjuma Stephen Bayonga, the Gara Donga of Donga local government area died in a hospital in Abuja.

His Eminence Muhammadu Sa'ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto is currently in Uganda on a royal visit through the Buganda Kingdom where he is a guest of His Majesty the Kabaka for his 26th coronation anniversary.

The Sultan who arrived on July 29th first attended an open discussion engagement hosted by the Kingdom's Prime minister at Hotel Africana where he was given the history, administration, cultural, financial and social structures of the kingdom.

On July 31st, He was officially received and welcomed by His Majesty Kabaka Mutebi II at Katabi Upcountry camping palace, where they do part in a tree planting ceremony. The two monarchs held a bilateral meeting to discuss and exchange ideas on how to develop and engage both kingdoms.

Later he attended the coronation anniversary events at Nkumba and was received for a luncheon by the Kabaka, Nnabagereka and members of the royal family.

A happy birthday to His Royal Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II, 14th Emir of Kano Emirate.

His Royal Highness was born Sanusi Lamido Sanusi on July 31st 1961 in Nigeria to Ambassador Aminu Sanusi of the Gidan Rumfa Royal House into Sullubawa clan of the Torobe Fulani. He is the grandson to the 11th Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi I.

He received his First School Leaving Certificate from St. Anne’s Catholic Primary School in Kakuri, Kaduna. He then graduated from King's College, Lagos. He obtained a bachelor's degree in economics from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria and later received a master's degree in economics from the same university. Sanusi studied at the International University of Africa in Khartoum, receiving a degree in Islamic law.

The Emir while still a prince, worked in the Banking sector both in Nigeria and around the world. He was nominated to the post of Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria by the late president of Nigeria President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.

He was crowned Emir on June 8th 2014 after the death of his granduncle Ado Bayero. In May 2019, The Secretary General of the United Nations appointed him as a member of the new class of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) advocates co-chaired by Ghana's President His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana and the prime minister of Norway, Erna Solberg. He joined royals like Her Majesty Queen Mathildeof the Belgians and Her Highness Sheikha Moza of Qatar

He is married to 4 wives: Their Royal Highnesses Giwan DanMaje Saadiya Ado Bayero, Queen Maryam, Queen Rakiya and Queen Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa and has multiple children and grandchildren.

The Emir was recently awarded a honourary doctorate award in Finance from the SOAS University of London at the 2019 Graduation ceremonies. He was honoured for pioneering the introduction of Islamic banking into the Nigerian banking sector and his anti-corruption work in the financial industry.

The annual celebration of Ita-Osun Festival which took part in Ife-Ife Kingdom on Saturday July 27th brought together indigenes, yorubas from around the world and also in Nigeria, and thousands of Osun faithfuls to the Ife-Ife palace.

His Royal Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife welcomed and led all attendees who stormed Ile Oodua Palace for the 2019 edition Ita-Osun Festival.

The Arole Oodua & Ooni of Ife who is not only one of the important leader of the Yoruba nation but is the spiritual leader of the Yoruba nation worldwide during a procession from his palace to the ancient Osun temple located at Ita-Osun area of Ilode community in the town was cheered by all present and across the community.

During the festival The Arole Oodua offered supplications to the deity, Osun Sengese. While addressing the media present, he briefly explain the importance and historical facts of the festival and its deity by describing Sengese as the progenitor of all water deities across the world, adding that the festival was meant to acknowledge the deity which is known for fortunes.

“As you all known that water is indispensable to our survival as human, Osun Sengese is a major deity in Yoruba land known for the performance of wonders through the water.

“Water has numerous healing and prosperity potentials as brought to us by Sengese, the mother of all water deities across the world.

“I pray that we shall always be fortunate, may our glory never be buried under water and may we never encounter flooding. Happy celebration.”

The festival which was witnessed by traditional rulers, high chiefs, Yoruba descendants from Brazil, Ireland Cuba who joined the Osun worshipers who had come from all the states of the Yorubaland, provides another ample opportunity for the teeming worshippers of the Osun River goddess within and outside the shores of Nigeria to converge on the historical city, it also created another leeway for the Ooni of Ife to promote and export the rich and fascinating heritage of  the Yoruba nation.

A Happy birthday to His Royal Majesty Dr. Oba Francis Adefarakanmi Ilufemiloye Ogidi III of Olowa of Igbara Kingdom, Ondo State Nigeria.

His Royal Majesty was born in 1959 in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State to Chief Ezekiel Abiodun Agbede of the royal dynasty of Ogidi, and his mother, Mrs. Florence.

Prior to taking over the stool of Olowa, The Ondo state monarch is a trained security and intelligence consultant, business owner and was conferred various chieftancy titles from various Yoruba Obas.

Following the death of his predecessor HRM Oba John Adepoju JP in December 2016,  His Royal Majesty was enthrone on on Tuesday, February 14th, 2017, after he scored eight out of the nine votes cast by the kingmakers in a contest that involved four princes from the Ogidi ruling house.

Citizens of Owo local Government Area of Ondo State are going to enstool a new Olowo in a few weeks.

Prince Gbadegesin Ogunoye has emerged as the Olowo elect. Of 14 votes out of 15 votes cast by the 15 senior Omolowos, (those who have sole responsibility to select king for the ancient town) in an election conducted by officials of the local government.

Ogunoye is from Ogunoye ruling house of the town.

The throne of Olowo became vacant following the demise of Oba Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi III, who passed away on Tuesday, April 16th this year.

He will known as His Royal Majesty Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III

On Tuesday July 16th, His Royal Majesty Obi Chukwuka Noah Ofulue, Obi of Ubulu-Uku kingdom in Delta state, graduated from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom.

The 19-year-old monarch graduated with a LLB at the school's convocation ceremony which was attended by his family.

Obi Akaeze I who became the youngest king in Nigeria when he was installed as King in February 2016 following the death of his father, Obi Akaeze Edward Ofulue III who was kidnapped and subsequently murdered in January of the same year.

On Friday July 19th, the citizens of Igbekebo, Ese Odo local government area of Ondo state came together for the pump and pageantry as a king was coronated. His Royal Highness, Oba Bamidele Simeon Dabo was chosen and coronated as the new Odogun of Igbekebo Kingdom received his instrument of appointment and staff of office.

In 2016, the former traditional leader Oba Emmanuel Omotumilara Eginkunyomi died leaving the stool became vacant who ruled for 23 years.

The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, who represented Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, presented the instrument of appointment and staff of office to the new monarch.

The selection process of the new monarch which took place at the Igbekebo Civic Center, earlier in May was keenly contested amongst five other princes from the Maga Okotun ruling house and others in Igbekebo before Prince Dabo of Maga ruling house was selected through voting. After his selection, Dabo was taken to the palace of the Kalasuwe of Apoi land, Oba (Prof) Sunday Amuseghan for traditional rites and blessing. Oba Ademiluga prayed for the new monarch to live long, stressing that his reign will bring rapid development, not only to Igbekebo, but the entire Apoi land.

His Royal Majesty is the 13th Olowu of Owu-Kuta Kingdom, a yoruba kingdom in Osun State, Nigeria. He is married to Her Royal Highness OLORI AGBEKE OYELUDE MAKAMA with whom they have three children.

Last week Wednesday July 3rd, the Edo state council of traditional rulers and chiefs met with the Nigerian President His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja for an annual meeting.

During the meeting, its members were demanding for the President's intervention to resolve the ongoing feud between Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Edo's Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Led by the Chairman of the council His Majesty Ewuare II, Oba of Benin, the traditional rulers also requested from His Excellency, two ministerial slots in his next cabinet.

Cocoa has always been one of Africa's greatest exported commodity for a few centuries now and one community in Nigeria is using it to help develop their region with the help and blessing of their paramount King.

In Eti-Oni community of Osun State, Nigeria, cocoa is their main product and the community came together to make chocolate out of their product export it to the world with their King His Royal Majesty Oba Dokun Thompson, Oloni of Eti-Oni as their spokesperson and biggest motivator.

Eti-Oni community began planting cocoa when the product was introduce into Nigerian soils in 1896. The funds received from exporting this to the world has helped developed the country both educationally and financially.

In partnership with chocolate producer Duffy, HRM Oba Thompson together with cocoa farmers in the community have been able to turn cocoa into their own label chocolate which can be found in shops in small quantities in the United Kingdom.

In an interview with BBC(British Broadcasting Network) Pidgin (the British public broadcaster pidgin section), His Royal Majesty said he wanted to help farmers majority to whom are women and improve their living standards by a lot as well as develop his community.

This opportunity has open doors to foreign investors from around Africa, America, Colombia to join in and broker dialogue with the community.

Annually the community organises the Eko Chocolate show which showcases various products made with the cocoa in the community.
