A view in African Royal Families

On September 12th, His Majesty Omukama/Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Rukidi VI celebrated his 24th empango anniversary at Karuzika Palace, Fort Portale, Karabole district capital city of Tooro Kingdom.

The festivities began on Wednesday September 11th at the official residence of the 27 year old monarch with cultural rituals performed which included blessing the royal drums, spears, crowns and regalia.

Then His Majesty sounded the royal drums to the amakondere dance tune to announce to his subjects the start of the empango celebrations

On the coronation anniversary day, His Majesty blessed the day with a church service accompanied by his mother HRH Queen Mother Best Kemigisa, aunt HRH Princess Elisabeth and extended members of the royal family.

During the celebrations, representatives from other kingdoms, the kingdom's government as well as from central government attended. His Excellency President Museveni, president of the republic who was represented by the 2nd deputy prime minister, Kirunda Kivenjia, hailed the young monarch as a keeper of cultural institutions in preserving languages and beautiful cultural norms in African youths.

Through his 2nd deputy Prime Minister, President Museveni hailed the kingdom for contributing to the nation's economic development.

His Majesty ascended the throne at the age of 3 following the fatal accident of his father His Majesty Rukirabasaija Patrick David Matthew Kaboyo Ramukhoya Olimi III. Due to his young age, his mother, aunt and uncle acted as regnants until his 18th birthday. He remains one of the youngest monarch in the world

Tens of Thousands of Busoga residents on September 13th came together at Kamira Village, Namagera Parish, Kagoma County in Jinja District to celebrate the fifth empango/coronation anniversary of His Majesty Kyabazinga (King) William Gabula Nadiope IV of Busoga, .

The Kyabazinga arrived at the grounds to the sounds of cultural royal drums to signify his presence.

He hailed the achievements the kingdom as gotten through its development, industrialization, education, technological advancement, digital transformation and support to government programmes.

"The kyabazingaship has registered tremendous success over the years due to your support and I want to thank you. "The past five years has seen education blossom due to the cooperation between the kingdom and the schools; about 7,000 have gained access to primary, secondary and tertiary education," he said.

“We have started and initiated several programs. We started the bursary scheme supporting needy but bright students, Ekigangu kya Busoga for the youth, Masaza cup, Kyabazinga trail, water distribution to schools, planting of trees and the demand for the service is enormous. However, we need to be stable financially to manage all of them”,

Surrounding kingdoms were represented as well as delegation from cultural institutions including the Umukuka of Bamasaba, Bob Mushikori, Buganda Kingdom, which was represented by the second deputy Prime Minister, Waggwa Nsibirwa and delegates from abroad among others.

The then Prince Gabula was elected Kyabazinga of Busoga in August 2014 and crowned on September 13th 2014, after a dispute amongst local chiefs contesting the legitimacy of heir Edward Columbus Wambuzi as Kyabazinga. Edward was the son of the late Kyabazinga Henry Wako Muloki who passed away from  esophageal cancer at the Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala at age 87 on September 1, 2008.

On August 31st my team and I visited a semi rural village in Ha Lepolesa, Qalabane in Mafeteng district. I was joined by Advocate Mpho Maema of Women’s Law Clinic, Mampho Lets’aba of the uniform drive, and our special guest from Botswana a Mandela Washington Fellow Masedi Thata Kewamodimo. The purpose of this visit was to engage with girls and young women on Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and the importance of knowing their general rights as the future female leaders of the kingdom of Lesotho and the world. We encouraged the girls to stand up and say NO to early marriages and not see them an escape from poverty, because without education one will not get employed anywhere even when they decide to be independent. Miss Masedi shared her story of being born HIV+ and living a full life with the disease which she does not allow to dictate her life. Miss Mampho provided school equipment to one girl who was chosen by the chief of the village based on her motivation in school. We were also pledged with sanitary pads from DHL Lesotho and two Government officials. I also educated the girls on the different types of sanitary products that we are trying to make available for them such as the Menstrual Cup from @princessdmenstrualcup We also have a petition running on @sexrightsafricanetwork for free sanitary wear in Africa, please take a moment to click on the link and sign the petition 🙏🏽 One, Free Africa for all Africans ✨ #princessdiaries #princesswithapurpose #kingdomoflesotho #lesotho #lesothoroyalty #africanroyals #qalabane #mafeteng #menstrualhygiene #princessdcuppa #menstrualcup #womenempowerment #womenslawclinic #sanitarydrive #educateachild #educateagirlchangetheworld #educateagirlempoweranation #powerofpositivity #livingwithhiv #lesothoroyals #princesssekhothaliseeisooflesotho #brownskingirl #mosotho #makeadifference #pledge #sanitarypads #mandelawashingtonfellowship #usembassy #usembassymaseru
